MOVIE- Dirty Dancing (1987)- Dirty Dancing is a 1987 American romantic drama dance film written by Eleanor Bergstein, produced by Linda Gottlieb, and directed by Emile Ardolino. KICHANA PDX- HOLA! MY NAME IS CHRISTIAN PEREZ, BUT MY FRIENDS CALL ME CHINO. I was drawn to the kitchen from a very early age. My mother’s kitchen was a community epicenter. Sharing native Peruvian recipes amongst family, friends, and neighbors gave us all a sense of cultural pride and immense respect for the power of food. In 1996, on my own at the age of 20, I moved to the United States. To keep me connected to my culture and make new friends I began preparing the Peruvian dishes I had seen as a kid. The smells, the colors, the flavors, the friends… it brought me back to a simpler time in my mother’s kitchen. Over the years I have already honed my skills by hosting countless dinner parties in kitchens all over the world. Casually, I dreamt of Kichana for years. Among friends my dream became real. In my dishes you will find fusion: my Native Peru blended with inspiration from the many places I’ve traveled and all the people, passions, and even pains that this life has gifted me. My food is fragrant, vibrant, flavorful, and nourishing. It still inspires me… every day. Following your dreams is terrifying. I say, do it anyway. Kichana is my dream.
Because I’m so inspired whenever I witness the unifying power of a shared meal.
HUNGRY HEART- Welcome to Hungry Heart. We're a warm, friendly, community-minded bakery + coffee shop in the wonderful Montavilla neighborhood. We started as a cupcake + coffee focused food truck in 2010, but we've come a long way since then! While our cupcakes are still one of the favorite things we offer, our menu of coffees, teas, delicious breakfast & lunch sandwiches (on house-made baguettes, bialys, & croissants!), soups, sweet + savory pastries, cookies, muffins, & French-style macarons has something for everyone. Our belief in using locally-sourced, seasonal ingredients has been a part of our mission since the beginning, & we apply it to all that we serve. This means that while you'll see a number of our menu items year-round, others will change based on the season, so that whatever you're having-- cupcake or macaron, grab 'n go sandwich or savory danish-- will always be made with fresh, high quality ingredients & lots of care.
